Grotta Mangiapane, Scurati (Custonaci)
Sicilia
The Grotta Mangiapane is a 70 m-high natural arch in the Scurati cliff, inhabited from the Palaeolithic on; a family named Mangiapane built houses, a chapel, ovens and stables right inside it, lived there until the 1950s, and the hamlet survives as an open-air museum. Monte Cofano and its coast reserve rise just beyond.
