Spiaggia di Grado

Grado grew as an Austro-Hungarian bathing resort from the 1890s, its long fine-sand beach still backed by early-20th-century grand hotels and a genuinely old fishing-village core of narrow lanes (calli) around the town's Romanesque basilica. The lagoon behind the town, reachable by a short causeway, is one of the best-preserved on the northern Adriatic.
