Built in the 1450s by Pier Maria Rossi, Torrechiara is one of the best-preserved castles in Emilia, its four corner towers rising over the Parma river valley amid the hillside cellars where the region's famous prosciutto is aged. The grounds outside the walls give a wide view over vineyards and orchards.
