The Castello di Saint-Germain guards the narrows of the central valley from a crag above Montjovet. A stone-paved mule track — a stretch of the Via Francigena — climbs from the hamlet of Le Château through vineyard and oak to the roofless keep and curtain walls, with the Dora and the Châtillon basin laid out below.
