The "wood of the broken feathers" — the Alpini's hat feather is a "penna" — is a memorial park in the Val Rimonta: a shaded streamside walk under beech and hornbeam past more than 2,600 small bronze plaques and a chapel, each remembering a dead soldier of the mountain corps.
