Anghiari's tightly packed stone lanes climb a steep hillside above the upper Tiber valley, largely unchanged since the 15th-century battle that Leonardo da Vinci was commissioned (and failed) to paint on a wall in Florence. The walls at the top give a view over the Valtiberina's tobacco fields.
